Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt

Who We Are

Adjunct Counsel Program

The Adjunct Counsel Program is a new initiative at Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt. We currently are adding several adjunct, or of counsel, members to the firm, with the aim of helping our clients with services that we do not make a point of incorporating in our normal ongoing client relationships, often because they may not be part of the expertise of our existing staff.

From the perspective of TW&B, the rationale for this program is:
* To add to the firm’s stable of trusted professionals with expertise in special areas of service on behalf of our clients
* To assure availability of trusted colleagues should the need arise for conventional assistance with the firm’s clients
* To help develop a more extensive and dependable network of client referrals for the firm
* To indicate to the public a larger, more diverse and more imposing scale of TW&B activity

Elizabeth C. Morris, Adjunct Council

Elizabeth has spent more than 30 years working in development for not- for-profits. She has served as a chief development office at the University of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation and the Gates Foundation’s Vaccine Fund. She has a particular interest in working with entrepreneurial organizations, helping them build capacity and strong a base of support, bringing creative thinking to board recruitment and development, and helping to construct a solid viable development structure that will take them into the future.

She has personally raised millions of dollars and has been counsel for many organizations helping them with successful campaigns.

Understanding that the entire not-for-profit space is becoming more and more crowded, Elizabeth is also interested in helping not-for- profits think creatively in terms of vision and impact within their sectors, and helping them to define their own unique characteristics.

She joined Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt in 2004, as a Senior Vice President, bringing her own consulting business, which included national and international clients. She recently became Adjunct Counsel to continue to pursue major external interests.

Some of her clients have included The Abraham Lincoln Pubic Library Foundation, ACLU Foundation, Aspira, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Evanston Township High School, the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, Illinois Student Assistance Commission, PAWS Chicago, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Rhode Island School of Design, SightSavers International, and VanderCook College of Music.

Elizabeth is a committed volunteer and has spent the last 22 years on the Board of Planned Parenthood of Illinois in a variety of leadership positions including Chair. She holds a B.A. degree from Brown University.
