Who We Are
Kirsten Andersen, Associate Vice President
Kirsten Andersen brings a background in writing, event and project management and corporate sponsorships to Ter Molen Watkins and Brandt through her progressive responsibilities at the National Museum of Mexican Art.
At the Museum, Kirsten planned and obtained corporate sponsorships for the institution’s Gala, during which time the event boasted the lowest cost of raising funds while achieving the place of second highest grossing event in the institution’s history. In her grant writing capacity, she successfully solicited government, corporate and foundation entities for support, including the Museum’s first successful grant to the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as managing and submitting a successful $449,000 grant proposal to the Illinois State Board of Education. She has completed several hundred grant proposals and reports, letters of appeal and correspondence on behalf of senior leadership. Kirsten’s experience has taught her the art of appealing to various audiences by incorporating fact, strategy and style.
As an alumna of the 2009 Development Leadership Consortium Annual Fellows Program, Kirsten now serves on the organization’s Board of Directors. She attended the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.A. in English and Hispanic Studies. Throughout her education, she had the opportunity to study in both Mexico and Spain, perfecting her Spanish and growing her appreciation of other cultures. Kirsten enjoys volunteering and has worked with her church, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Kensington Welfare Rights Union and the Night Ministry.
